Job summary

Push Operations is hiring for an outgoing budtender in a busy New York cannabis retail location. You will assist customers, process purchases at the register, and ensure accurate and compliant transactions in a welcoming environment.

You will help customers choose products, answer questions, and upsell relevant add-ons while maintaining knowledge of current products, promotions, and store policies. The role involves daily shifts and training in a compliant setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in customer-facing retail or similar service.
• Must be able to start conversations, make recommendations, and ask for the sale.
• Knowledge of cannabis products and ongoing education.
• Able to explain product information clearly without medical claims.
• Strong attention to detail with handling payments and orders.

Job Description

Pay: $18–$22 per hour, plus tips

Position: Hourly, non-exempt

Starting pay within the listed range is based on relevant experience, training, demonstrated product knowledge and job responsibilities. Tips are additional to base pay, may vary, and are not guaranteed.

About the Role

Munchies is looking for an outgoing, knowledgeable, and dependable budtender who can deliver great customer service while confidently completing sales at the register.

This is not just a cashier position. You will help customers find products, answer questions, recommend relevant add-ons, and make sure every transaction is accurate, compliant, and welcoming. You may serve customers who already know what they want, process pickup orders, or complete carts prepared by the Bud Bar Cannabis Specialist.

The right person is comfortable talking with customers, understands how to sell without being pushy, and takes accuracy seriously.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome customers and create a friendly, respectful retail experience.
• Help customers locate products and answer general questions about the Munchies menu.
• Explain basic differences between flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, edibles, beverages, tinctures, topicals, and accessories.
• Recommend relevant products, accessories, or add-ons based on the customer’s purchase.
• Maintain accurate cash-drawer and transaction records.
• Follow all age-verification, purchase-limit, payment, and responsible-sales procedures.
• Keep the register, cash-wrap area, and nearby displays clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Maintain working knowledge of current products, brands, promotions, and store policies.
• Participate in daily shift huddles, product education and assigned training.
• Never diagnose a condition, promise a result, recommend cannabis as medical treatment, or make unsupported health or safety claims.
• Follow all Munchies procedures and New York cannabis regulations.
• Perform additional duties and support other store functions as assigned based on business needs, provided you are properly trained, and the work complies with all age restrictions, safety requirements, and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• At least one year of customer-facing retail, hospitality, restaurant, or similar service experience.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Comfortable starting conversations, making recommendations, and asking for the sale.
• Basic cannabis product knowledge and a genuine commitment to continued cannabis education.
• Able to explain product information clearly without making medical claims.
• Strong attention to detail when handling products, payments and customer orders.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow regulated procedures consistently.
• Comfortable learning and using POS, digital menus, and other retail technology.
• Able to perform the essential customer-service and retail duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cash-handling, register or point-of-sale experience.
• Familiarity with cannabis categories, cannabinoids, terpenes, and potency.
• Familiarity with New York cannabis products, brands, and regulations.
• Experience meeting retail sales goals or recommending complementary products.
• Cannabis education, certification, or industry training.

Required Training

Munchies provides required OCM and store training within 30 days of beginning licensed activities. Required training is provided at no cost and completed during paid working time. Employees must complete all required initial and ongoing training.
