Job Description

The Retail Associate champions weirdness, radical inclusion, and the power of creativity to change the world. Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Retail Associate creates an otherworldly shopping experience for our guests. Retail Associates will have expansive knowledge of our products, prepare and display merchandise and assist guests with their transactions. We encourage Retail Associate to elevate the narrative within our story world by executing their job duties with a performative and creative flair.

Compensation

Compensation: Compensation for this role is $19.75/hour. **Please note: This is a part time, seasonal position. See "Work Schedule" below for full details. **

Job Responsibilities

• Welcome guests to the exhibition and/or gift shop and answer their questions
• Perform job responsibilities with a creative flair that elevates the exhibition narrative
• Deliver a memorable guest experience through exceptional customer service
• Monitor crowds and assist with crowd control to ensure the safety of guests and staff
• Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
• Maintain in-stock and presentable conditions throughout the gift shop
• Process POS (point of sale) purchases and merchandise returns, re-stocking displays, etc.Receive product and stock the sales floor including: processing incoming shipments, merchandising products,
• Comply with inventory control procedures
• Report emergencies to the manager
• Respond to injuries and emergencies appropriately
• Collaborate with other team members to create and maintain a pleasant environment for guests

Required Qualifications

Desired Qualifications

• Prior work experience in a retail, museum, park, recreation facility, or other public space.
• Prior experience with point-of-sale systems.
• Familiarity with inventory procedures.
• Conversationalist, impersonator or otherwise.Hidden talents that can be employed as part of the persona including singing, dancing, magic, comedy.
• Bilingual, especially but not limited to English and Spanish.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces. May require work outdoors for special events or critical functions.

Physical Demands

Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Positioning or moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Work Schedule

This position has an effective start date on or after 11/16/2026, with the position ending no later than ~90days later (2/14/2027). This position is seasonal. We are looking for those who have evening, weekend and holiday availability. Approx. 2
