Job description

As a vital member of our team, the Retail Associate reports to the Retail Store Manager and plays a key role in creating a welcoming shopping experience. This position blends cashiering responsibilities—processing transactions and delivering outstanding customer service—with merchandising duties that involve displaying products and ensuring the sales floor is inviting and well-stocked. The Retail Associate helps foster a friendly well stocked and merchandised store that encourages repeat visits and strengthens community ties.

JOB DUTIES
  • Welcoming Customer Experience: Greet all customers with a friendly smile, ensuring they feel valued and upholding our customer service standards to provide a pleasant shopping experience aligned with our mission.
  • Accurate Transactions: Process cash and credit payments with precision, enrolling customers in our loyalty programs.
  • Store Maintenance and Cleanliness: Collaborate with staff to uphold the store's appearance by restocking supplies and cleaning public areas. This includes maintaining janitorial and restroom supplies, restoring merchandise to its proper place, and cleaning the parking lot, sidewalks, windows, doors, floors, break rooms, restrooms, and other public areas to contribute to a safe and inviting environment.
  • Merchandising and Quality Assurance: Display items according to guidelines, assist with visual merchandising—including endcaps and seasonal sets—and ensure product quality. Proficiently pull, restock, and merchandise new goods on the sales floor, following leadership direction to meet quality standards.
  • Production Goals and Documentation: Work efficiently to meet daily production targets while keeping accurate records to help us stay organized and on track.
  • Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures when handling equipment to ensure a safe environment for yourself and your teammates.
  • Team Communication: Encourage positive communication and teamwork with colleagues.
  • Flexible Assistance: Provide support in other thrift stores and take on additional tasks as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Welcoming Presence: Able to engage in friendly conversations with customers and donors, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that ensures a positive checkout experience.
  • Cash Handling Skills: Confidently handle cash and process transactions accurately.
  • Proficient Register Use: Comfortable operating a cash register and related systems.
  • Persuasive Communication: Possesses the ability to promote items effectively, helping customers find exactly what they need and encouraging them to make purchases.
  • Alignment with Company Values: Demonstrates a strong understanding of the company’s goals and mission, embodying these values in daily interactions.
  • Physical Capability: Lift up to 25 pounds regularly and remain on your feet during shifts.
  • Safety First: Fully complies with all safety directives, contributing to a safe and secure space for both customers and colleagues.
  • Availability: Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed. Evening and weekend shifts are required.
