Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in New Haven, IN is hiring a Retail Associate to help turn donations into funding for community programs. You will provide excellent customer service, process transactions at the register, and assist with donations and merchandise preparation.

This part-time position requires energy, reliability, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Training is provided and team collaboration is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Must provide friendly customer service and greeting to donors and shoppers.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Basic math and computer skills for transactions and inventory.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift/move merchandise as needed.
• High school diploma or current pursuit required.
• Preferred experience in retail, cashiering or customer service.
• Experience using a point of sale system is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Operate the register and process sales transactions accurately.
• Assist donors with donations according to center policy.
• Sort, process, hang, tag, price, and prepare donated merchandise.
• Move priced merchandise to the sales floor or display areas.
• Keep the store clean, safe, and organized.
• Work with team members to support daily sales and production goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
