Job summary

Family Dollar in Lynchburg, VA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. The role involves assisting with daily functions, organizing merchandise, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked store.

You will help supervise and train Store Associates while upholding safety and company policies. The position is part-time with responsibilities including opening/closing, payroll and scheduling tasks, and ensuring a positive customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks regularly.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service, organizational and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Provide friendly customer service and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, handling damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked, clean store and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment.
• Ensure store cleanliness and restocking of bathrooms, floors, and trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
