Job summary

Dollar General seeks an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-focused store and support the Store Manager in supervising staff, merchandising, paperwork, and deposits.

The role includes stocking, cashiering, planogram maintenance, and ensuring cash controls and asset protection. Candidates should have a high school diploma and retail supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervision of store employees and store operations.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Manage scheduling and training of employees; conduct safety meetings.
• Maintain merchandise presentation, receiving, stocking and planogram execution.
• Protect company assets through cash controls and deposits; sign for refunds and overrides.
• Assist in absence of Store Manager and support profitability and customer satisfaction.
