Job summary

LensCrafters in Gastonia, NC is looking for an Assistant Manager to lead in the Store Manager’s absence and act as a business owner within our community optics destination. You’ll guide a sales-driven team, uphold visual standards, and ensure outstanding customer care.

You’ll coach staff, manage daily operations, and build strong relationships with doctors and customers while delivering excellent service. 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 1+ year management/supervisory experience with direct reports.
• Knowledge of retail operations, processes & policies.
• Strong basic math skills.
• Familiarity with cash register, computers & calculators.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Strong selling skills and ability to clearly communicate.
• Proven problem-solving abilities.
• College degree or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous leadership in retail & customer service (preferred).
• Knowledge of optics and store merchandise (preferred).
• State licensure/ABO certification (if applicable, preferred).
• Brand-related inspection/training certifications (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality and improvement to exceed KPIs such as sales, AI, and customer metrics.
• Translates retail insights into positive sales and market understanding.
• Supports store business plans to maximize sales and profit.
• Partner with store manager to lead and develop team.
• Delivers feedback and coaches staff for development.
• Executes visual directives and maintains store appearance.
• Maintains positive relationships with doctors and customers.
• Promotes policy compliance and operational standards.
• Performs administrative duties.
• Works a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
