Job summary

Big Lots in Gastonia, NC is seeking an Assistant Manager to deliver excellent customer service and assist the Store Manager with store operations to meet company goals.

The role includes recruiting and developing team members, managing daily store activities, opening/closing, safeguarding assets, and ensuring a clean, safe shopping environment. This position requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Prior retail and management experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training, and developing store team members.
• Support Store Manager with day-to-day store operations.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the manager's absence.
• Protect company assets, including cash.
• Uphold safety policies and professional customer service.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards.
• Direct hourly team members in the Store Manager's absence.
• Process corporate directives and store directives.
• Assist with freight flow and merchandise receipt/return.
• Plan and implement weekly store directives.
