Job summary

Family Dollar in Highlands, Texas is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will assist with opening/closing, organize merchandise, supervise associates, ensure policy compliance, and maintain a clean, safe, and inviting sales floor. The role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, plus the ability to lift up to 55 lbs in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties as described
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and deliver excellent customer service
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts, and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, and take out trash
• Other duties as assigned
