Job summary

Family Dollar in Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day duties, organize merchandise, and ensure store standards are met.

You will help manage payroll and scheduling, supervise associates, and maintain safety and cleanliness across the store. This full-time role requires strong communication and a proactive, customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail/grocery/drug store preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
• Strong communication and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize, stock, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional displays and storefront fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, records (payroll, scheduling, cash handling), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure all associates follow policies.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restrooms stocked, floors swept/mopped, trash removed, and areas neat.
• Other duties as assigned.
