Job summary

Gillman Home Center is seeking an Assistant Manager for our Shelbyville, IN location to lead customer service excellence and support store operations. You will supervise staff, train team members, and assist the Store Manager with daily tasks, inventory management, and loss prevention.

The role requires strong leadership, communications skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining a safe and well-organized retail and lumber yard environment. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years of Retail Experience (preferred in hardware/lumber industry).
• Experience supervising employees is a plus.
• Management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise store and lumber yard staff and ensure excellent customer service.
• Assist Store Manager with store operations, inventory, and payroll tasks.
• Lead training and development of team members and uphold safety standards.
• Assist in loss prevention, merchandising, and display management.
• Ensure store is clean, stocked, and properly merchandised.
