Job summary

Gillman Home Center is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead customer service excellence and supervise store and lumber yard staff. The role supports the Store Manager in all store operations, with focus on training, inventory control, and safety adherence.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in retail (hardware/lumber preferred) and strong supervisory skills; full-time schedule with days, evenings, and weekends. Medical and retirement benefits provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of Retail Experience (preferred in hardware/lumber).
• Experience supervising employees is a plus.
• Management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a positive, approachable manner.
• Assist and support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations.
• Help supervise, train and develop store and lumber yard team members on policies and procedures.
• Regularly walk the store and yard to identify and address issues.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked and merchandised store for customers.
• Manage inventory to maximize turns and profit.
• Assist in unloading freight and stocking shelves.
• Support Store Manager with administrative tasks (records, payroll, scheduling, deposits).
• Support loss prevention efforts.
• Maintain department(s) and safety standards.
• Assume management responsibilities in the Store Manager's absence.
