Job summary

A Leading Transformation, Restructuring & Fiduciary Advisory Firm is seeking a Director, Restructuring & Performance Improvement to lead and shape major engagements across liquidity, restructuring, and performance improvements.   • Strong financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and client stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and client engagements.

Director, Restructuring & Performance Improvement

Location: NYC, Chicago, Houston, or Atlanta (Travel Required) Level: Director Company: A Leading Transformation, Restructuring & Fiduciary Advisory Firm Compensation: $200,000 - $250,000 Base Salary

About the Opportunity

Our client is a rapidly growing advisory and operating firm that partners with companies, boards, lenders, investors, and management teams during periods of growth, transformation, operational improvement, and financial distress. The firm combines strategic advisory capabilities with hands‑on execution, serving as trusted operators and fiduciaries in complex situations.

The Director will play a critical leadership role across engagement delivery, client development, and practice growth. This individual will lead high‑impact turnaround, restructuring, performance improvement, and transformation engagements while working directly with executive management teams, boards of directors, private equity sponsors, and creditors.

Key Responsibilities
Engagement Leadership
  • Lead and manage complex restructuring, turnaround, and performance improvement engagements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to C‑suite executives, boards, lenders, and investors.
  • Oversee liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, business plan development, and operational assessments.
  • Evaluate strategic alternatives, restructuring options, and value creation opportunities.
  • Develop and execute initiatives focused on profitability enhancement, cost optimization, working capital improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders and decision‑makers.
Interim and Fiduciary Leadership
  • Support or serve in interim leadership capacities, including CRO, CFO, COO, or other executive roles when required.
  • Lead stakeholder negotiations and communications in high‑pressure situations.
  • Assist boards and management teams in navigating periods of organizational change, crisis, or transformation.
Business Development
  • Cultivate relationships with private equity firms, lenders, attorneys, investment bankers, and corporate executives.
  • Identify and originate new business opportunities.
  • Participate in proposals, client presentations, thought leadership, and market‑facing initiatives.
  • Help expand the firm's presence within target industries and geographic markets.
Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor Associates, Senior Associates, and Vice Presidents.
  • Review analyses, financial models, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Contribute to recruiting, training, and practice‑building initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in restructuring, turnaround consulting, performance improvement, operational transformation, transaction advisory, or a related field.
  • Experience working with middle‑market and large corporate clients.
  • Strong financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and client stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and client engagements.
Preferred Background
  • Previous experience with a restructuring advisory firm, consulting firm, investment bank, private equity portfolio operations group, or independent consulting platform.
  • Experience serving as an interim executive, advisor to boards, or working directly with private equity‑backed companies.
  • CPA, CFA, CTP, MBA, or other relevant professional designation preferred but not required.
