Job summary

Wake County Public School System in North Carolina seeks an Alternative Learning Center Teacher to design and deliver restorative learning experiences for students with behavioral challenges. You will provide targeted SEL and core instruction during interventions while reducing disruptions and increasing seat time in the core curriculum.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License; a Master's license in Special Education is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in a teaching content area.
• Preferred: Master’s degree and NC license in Special Education.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum aligned with the NC Standard Course of Study for individual students.
• Implements Restorative Practices and SEL interventions to support student success.
• Maintains a suitable learning environment, including planning and organization of the classroom.
• Communicates regularly with students, parents, teachers, support staff and administration.
• Maintains accurate class records, including daily attendance.
• Attends school-based and central services meetings; may involve hours outside of instructional day.
• Acts as liaison between base school and Alternative Learning Programs; provides transition support.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
