Job summary

Lewiston Public Schools seeks an assistant to support the teacher in daily classroom activities.

The role includes assisting with small group instruction, classroom setup, materials prep, attendance, and light clerical tasks, with pay between $18.73 and $24.72 per hour (SY 25/26).

Qualifications

• Must have at least 60 college credits completed or certified as Ed. Tech. II #022 with the State of Maine.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information clearly.
• Previous work in child care.

Responsibilities

• Assists in small group pupil instruction; tutors pupils at teacher's request
• Assists teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions.
• Assists with set up of classroom and prepares materials for specialized instructional units.
• Handles attendance reports and related clerical functions with the teacher.
• Assists in assembling/hanging materials on bulletin boards and keeping displays current.
• Operates standard school equipment such as computer, laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc.
• May escort children to and from various rooms.
