Job summary

The Center for Youth Services, Inc. works with local schools to provide academic instruction and socio-emotional support to reducing repeat offenses and keeping students in class. The Behavior Intervention Specialist helps create a supportive presence among youth, families, and faculty.

It is a full-time, 11-month position with hours that may overlap the school day. Some evenings or weekends may be required for special events or projects, reflecting a collaborative community approach in a school

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Service or related field and 1–3 years' related experience OR equivalent combination.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers, coordinates and oversees program (on-site).
• Works with School Administrators to ensure services meet identified needs and meets regularly with administrators.
• Attend School Support Service meetings.
• Delivers a restorative-based system.
• Creates and oversees data collection and program evaluation processes.
• Provides monthly reports to Director of School Based Programs.
• Coordinates requests for Prevention Education services.
• Outreach and information dissemination.
• Referral and referral readiness.
• Immediate response and support.
• Prevention education with fidelity including: asset-building groups, research-based curricula, planned-duplication booster sessions.
• Asset development activities.
• Alternatives to suspension services including pre/post assessment and transitional services.
• Agency ambassador and liaison at meetings, open houses and health fairs.
• Research and design of services including outcome and impact tracking.
• Development and maintenance of resource files, lesson plans and training aids.

Skills
