Job Title: Restaurant Server & Bartender
Department: Food & Beverage
Reports To: Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef, Restaurant Supervisor
Scope:
Operate the functional areas of the restaurant, bar, and barista. Serve as the first impression and “face” of the restaurant to all guests. Service should be professional, timely, and accurate.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Greet, seat, and engage customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Professionally serve hotel and transient restaurant guests, providing a warm and memorable experience.
- Assist guests by bussing tables, delivering meals, and maintaining the breakfast buffet area.
- Suggestive selling of wine, cappuccinos, and other menu items.
- Mix and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and coffee drinks according to hotel standards, courteously and efficiently, adhering to Brand Standards.
- Check IDs to ensure guests meet age requirements for alcohol consumption.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and professional service in all areas.
- Remove dishes and glasses, and assist with ware-washing as needed.
- Open/Close and stock liquor, bar, and coffee supplies.
- Operate cash register and credit card terminal accurately.
- Possess knowledge of the hotel POS system and basic restaurant terminology.
- Understand the hotel menu offerings thoroughly.
- Work as part of the team to ensure guest satisfaction and exceed expectations.
- Resolve guest complaints promptly and respond to service requests.
- Attend scheduled training sessions as required.
- Adhere to procedures for hotel accounting, credit control, security, and emergency protocols.
- Arrive punctually and abide by uniform guidelines.
Requirements:
- Legal ability to serve and pour alcohol in New York.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including AM, PM, overnight, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong command of English; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and independent working skills.
- Ability to stand and move for long periods.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills with an energetic personality.
- Desire to satisfy customer and team needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete departmental paperwork accurately.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Ability to lift, pull, or carry items weighing approximately 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
One or more years of restaurant experience preferred.
ServSafe and TIPS certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
