Location

Located on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta, The Candler Hotel is a historic boutique hotel within the Candler Building, originally built in 1906. The hotel features 265 guestrooms, a library, a Peloton-equipped gym, and 6,000 sq. ft. of event space. Its signature restaurant, By George, is helmed by chef Hugh Acheson.

Overview

The Restaurant Server provides high-quality service to guests in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner, handling orders and payments.

Responsibilities
  • Always be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Understand the organization of the restaurant, lounges, and room service, and know each role's function.
  • Have thorough knowledge of menus and specials.
  • Serve guests with all food and beverage requirements courteously and efficiently.
  • Pre-bus tables, removing soiled dishes after each course.
  • Operate the P.O.S system proficiently.
  • Handle cashiering duties, including closing checks and preparing shift paperwork.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work as assigned.
  • Keep tables and side stands stocked, tidy, and clean.
  • Maintain beverage levels at all times.
  • Break down trays of soiled dishes and linens according to standards.
  • Answer the telephone professionally.
  • Upsell food, beverages, and promotions to guests.
  • Know fire extinguisher locations and usage.
  • Deliver food and beverage orders and process payments.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Flexibility for long hours.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to stand throughout the shift.
  • Capability to carry full trays of food and beverages.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Attend all required meetings and training.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming.
  • Adhere to hotel standards and safety regulations.
  • Show initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a friendly demeanor.
