Overview
The Restaurant Server is responsible for providing the highest quality of service to guests in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner. He/she is also responsible for receiving and delivering guests' orders and collecting payment.
Responsibilities
- Attend to guests, staff, and fellow employees in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner at all times.
- Familiarize with the organization of the Restaurant(s), lounges, and Room Service, and understand the function of each job position.
- Have thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable outlets.
- Serve guests with all food and beverage requirements efficiently and courteously.
- Pre-bus all tables, removing soiled dishes after each course.
- Know the operation of the P.O.S system.
- Perform cashiering functions, including closing checks and preparing end-of-shift paperwork.
- Follow opening and closing procedures and station checklists.
- Keep tables and side stands stocked, tidy, and clean.
- Maintain beverages at least ¾ full (coffee, tea, soda, water, lemonade).
- Break down trays of soiled dishes and linen per standards.
- Answer the telephone professionally.
- Upsell food, beverage, and promotional items to guests.
- Be familiar with fire extinguisher locations and usage.
- Deliver food and beverage orders and collect payments.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Flexibility to work long hours as required.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to stand for entire shift.
- Ability to maneuver while carrying full trays of food and beverages.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
- Multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Attend all required hotel meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safety and efficiency.
- Proactive problem-solving and initiative-taking.
- Ability to understand and apply complex information from various sources.
- Cross-training in other hotel-related areas preferred.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Show initiative and anticipate guest or operational needs.
