Location

The Candler Hotel, part of Curio Collection by Hilton, is located on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta, within the historic Candler Building. Originally built in 1906 as Atlanta’s first steel skyscraper by Coca-Cola magnate Asa G. Candler, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After a comprehensive renovation led by interior designer Nicole Hollis, the hotel now features 265 guestrooms and suites, a library, a Peloton-equipped gym, and 6,000 sq. ft. of event space. The historic bank has been transformed into the restaurant and bar By George, led by chef Hugh Acheson, a James Beard Award winner.

Overview

The Restaurant Server provides high-quality service to guests in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner, handling orders and payments.

Responsibilities
  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and colleagues at all times.
  • Understand the organization of the restaurant, lounges, and room service, and know the roles of each position.
  • Know the menu and daily specials thoroughly.
  • Serve food and beverages attentively and courteously.
  • Pre-bus tables, removing soiled dishes after each course.
  • Operate the POS system proficiently.
  • Handle cashiering duties, including closing checks and preparing end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures and complete side-work as per station rotation and checklists.
  • Keep tables and service areas clean and stocked.
  • Maintain beverage levels at least ¾ full.
  • Break down trays of dishes and linens in the dishroom according to standards.
  • Answer phone calls professionally.
  • Upsell menu items and promotions to guests.
  • Know the locations and usage of fire extinguishers.
  • Deliver food and beverages and process payments accurately.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction throughout service.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred, with experience in hospitality advantageous.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to stand throughout the shift and maneuver while carrying trays.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented demeanor.
  • Participation in hotel meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to hotel standards.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems proactively.
  • Ability to understand complex information and cross-train in other areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality and show initiative.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
