Our vision is to provide an authentic and exceptional Japanese dining experience, showcasing the finest ingredients and meticulous culinary techniques. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our front-of-house team and ensure the seamless operation of our restaurant from its inception.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Restaurant Manager who is fluent in Japanese and has a proven track record in managing high-end restaurants, preferably with experience in Japanese cuisine. The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high standards of quality, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new venture and contribute to the establishment of a premier dining destination in New York City.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all front-of-house operations, including guest services, reservations, seating arrangements, and staff management.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor restaurant staff, including servers, hosts, and bartenders.
  • Ensure the delivery of impeccable customer service and handle guest inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and build a loyal clientele.
  • Manage inventory, supplies, and ensure efficient ordering and stock control.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness, organization, and ambiance throughout the restaurant.
  • Monitor and manage the restaurant's budget, including labor costs, food and beverage expenses, and other operational costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth communication and efficient service flow.
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional activities to attract and retain customers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in fine dining and Japanese cuisine.
  • Generate reports on restaurant performance, including sales, customer feedback, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in both Japanese and English is essential (written and spoken).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management role within a high-end restaurant environment.
  • Proven experience working in a Japanese restaurant is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences.
  • Solid understanding of restaurant operations, including staffing, inventory management, and financial controls.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage, particularly Japanese cuisine and beverages (sake, shochu, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is a plus.
