Job summary

Sonic Drive-In is seeking a Manager in Training (MIT) to participate in a structured program that builds comprehensive knowledge of restaurant operations, finance, staff management, and customer service. The program prepares participants for advancement to the General Manager role.

You will assist in daily operations, learn to interpret P&L statements, manage payroll and expenses, and coach team members. A relocation consideration within 45 miles may be required as openings arise.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of general management experience in food service or hospitality.
• Associate degree in business or related field preferred.
• Current certifications (e.g., ServSafe) preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the general manager with daily operations and revenue growth.
• Oversee daily store activities, maintain cleanliness, manage inventory, and scheduling.
• Learn to read P&L statements, manage payroll, control expenses, and track revenue.
• Learn to use metrics to evaluate Drive-In performance and drive improvements.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and developing team members.
• Provide coaching, set expectations, and give ongoing feedback.
• Foster a positive atmosphere that makes work enjoyable.
• Explain the big picture and the reasons behind tasks to employees.
• Partner with the GM to build community outreach and grow sales.
