Shuka, led by Chef/Partner Ayesha Nurdjaja, is looking for a Manager!

Shuka offers a unique interpretation of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, emphasizing multi-layered, nuanced flavors, seasonal green market ingredients, and regional farm products.

Our focus is on responsibly sourced, local ingredients with a nod to seasonality. Chef Ayesha Nurdjaja brings an exciting, dynamic take on her favorite dishes inspired by extensive travels. We serve lunch, dinner, and brunch.

Shuka is part of The Bowery Group, known for neighborhood favorites like Cookshop, Rosie’s, Shukette, and Vic’s. The group has received accolades such as James Beard Nominee for Outstanding Restaurateur 2022, Best Chef Greater New York 2022, and recognition in The New York Times.

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for ensuring positive guest experiences, supporting staff, and successful restaurant operations. Responsibilities include strategic planning, scheduling, training, maintaining service standards aligned with the Bowery Group’s vision, developing guest relations, and executing directives from leadership.

This position requires daytime, evening, and weekend hours with FULL TIME AVAILABILITY.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Proficiency with Point of Sale systems
  • Sommelier, Cicerone, Tips On-Premises certifications are encouraged but not required
  • New York Food Handler and Serve Safe Management Certified (or completed within 90 days)
  • Sexual harassment training certification within 30 days of employment

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to stand and walk up to 12 hours
  • Manual dexterity for handling, touching, reaching
  • Clear talking and hearing ability
  • Ability to carry hot and cold plates
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch as needed
  • Sensory abilities: taste and smell
  • Lift/move up to 20 pounds frequently
  • Visual acuity including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, timely order delivery
  • Willingness to work peak hours, including evenings, holidays, weekends
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, ratios
