Job summary

Potbelly is seeking a General Manager in Cleveland, OH to lead operations, drive sales, and foster a culture of belonging and teamwork on the shop floor. The role emphasizes P&L accountability, team development, and delivering excellent guest experiences.

The GM will manage 80-90% of time on the shop floor, coordinate marketing, scheduling, and labor, while ensuring health and safety standards and strong financial performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years as General Manager in restaurant/retail with P&L responsibility.
• Must meet Food Safety requirements and obtain certification.
• Strong customer-facing communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and develop shop team members to realize potential.
• Interview, select and hire great people.
• Develop and maintain a positive shop culture and strong attraction/retention.
• Schedule Associates and Shift Leaders and manage labor goals.
• Drive local shop marketing to maximize sales and community engagement.
• Control costs, variances, and inventories within the shop.
• Lead seasonal promotions and outside recruitment/marketing efforts.
• Ensure health, safety, and food handling standards are met.
• Handle customer complaints/issues effectively.
