Job summary

Alvarado Street Brewery in Monterey, CA is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer to ensure smooth operation of all restaurant facilities. You will maintain critical systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC) and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.

This full-time, non-exempt role requires hands-on troubleshooting, coordination with vendors, and careful record-keeping.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred.
• Proven maintenance technician experience, preferably with commercial kitchen equipment, basic plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to a safe workplace.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
• Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee preventive maintenance for restaurant equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing.
• Coordinate with restaurant management to identify repair needs.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities.
• Inspect dining room, kitchen, and exterior for issues.
• Diagnose and repair equipment to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs.
• Provide regular maintenance progress updates.
• Manage stock of facility supplies and spare parts.
• Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
