Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, a Forbes 4-Star luxury property, seeks a Maintenance Engineer to uphold the hotel’s high standards by maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, electrical equipment, and plumbing. You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to urgent repairs, and ensure safety compliance across guest rooms and public areas.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, basic trades knowledge, and a track record of reliability in hospitality maintenance.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of trades including electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience.
• Mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of electrical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to write routine maintenance reports.
• Ability to solve problems with varying complexity and apply fractional/percentage concepts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, test and repair mechanical systems and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on scheduled systems.
• Inspect guest rooms and public spaces for repairs and touch-ups.
• Follow safety, hygiene and cleanliness protocols at all times.
• Monitor and manage pool, spa and water systems maintenance and safety.
• Diagnose equipment issues and coordinate with supervisors for repairs.
• Dismantle, repair or replace faulty components and parts.
• Install and repair electrical apparatus and machinery components.
• Complete work orders and report results to the Chief Engineer.
