Assure that all bars are maintained in proper working condition. Provide all supplies needed for the bar prior to and during all functions and events as per Beverage Supervisor and Captain requests. Restock beverages after all functions. Knowledge of consumption reports and assistance with monthly beverage inventory and organization of the beverage storeroom are required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support the bartender and beverage server by stocking service areas and maintaining supplies, cleaning, and stocking glassware; assist with beverage service; transport food trays; assist in cleaning public areas.
- Participate in monthly inventory counts.
- Stock and maintain supplies in all service areas.
- Inspect and prepare all service ware prior to use.
- Assist servers by removing soiled glasses and plates during busy periods.
- Clean and stock glassware.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions of lounge and service areas.
- Assist in post-shift cleanup and side work duties.
- Keep storage spaces organized and clean.
- Maintain regular attendance per hotel standards.
- Work varying schedules as needed by the hotel.
- Attend all training sessions and meetings.
- Perform physical and mental effort requirements as specified.
Supportive Functions and Responsibilities
- Promote teamwork at all times.
- Notify supervisors of problems or unusual matters promptly.
- Be polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management, and colleagues.
- Attend hotel meetings and training sessions.
- Review daily events with captains.
- Stay current on alcoholic beverages and cocktail recipes.
- Stock portable bar with mixers, beverages, and supplies.
- Prepare mixers and garnishes as needed.
- Set up bar service area with necessary glassware and supplies (“Mis en Place”).
- Greet guests professionally according to Loews standards.
- Determine guest needs and suggestively up-sell beverages.
- Ensure quality service of beverages, adhering to hotel standards.
- Break down equipment and return stock to storage.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Record guest orders accurately.
- Monitor guest consumption for safety.
- Inventory beverages and supplies; order replacements.
- Perform closing duties, securing inventory and supplies.
- Notify supervisors of issues or concerns.
- Stay informed about hotel information and updates.
- Follow uniform and grooming standards.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of wine, spirits, and food.
- Polite, friendly, and helpful demeanor.
- Exceptional guest service skills.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Certifications such as "Certified Food Service Manager", "TIPS", or equivalent.
- Strong leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- At least 1+ years of experience as a Barback in a high-volume, upscale hotel or lounge environment.
The wage for this position is $15.61 per hour.
