Summary of Position

Prepares menu items according to company policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains food costs and kitchen cleanliness at all times. Performs duties to maximize guest satisfaction and a positive work environment under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty.

Position Activities and Tasks
  1. Prepares cooking items as per recipes and standards.
  2. Reports to work well-groomed, in a clean uniform, practicing good personal hygiene.
  3. Uses, maintains, and cleans all kitchen equipment and preparation areas.
  4. Stocks and rotates products to ensure freshness and compliance with shelf life standards.
  5. Knows recipes, menu items, and prep procedures to ensure quality and proper portioning.
  6. Prepares prep items according to guest requests within food safety standards.
  7. Controls food costs by proper portioning and following recipes.
  8. Uses FIFO standards during preparation.
  9. Maintains cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas, coolers, and storage areas.
  10. Follows safety procedures concerning food handling, storage, and rotation.
  11. Conducts line sweeps and cleans as needed throughout shifts.
  12. Adheres to OSHA and health department standards.
  13. Cleans equipment and work areas as directed.
  14. Identifies and corrects system issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
  15. Communicates effectively with management and team members about issues and solutions.
  16. Assists team members with prep, dishwashing, and maintaining the dining area.
  17. Provides guest service by collaborating with front-of-house staff.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  1. Extensive standing and walking for up to 8 hours.
  2. Ability to see at various distances and distinguish shapes.
  3. Clear communication skills.
  4. Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and cleaning chemicals.
  5. Ability to reach heights of 6 feet and depths of 2.5 to 3 feet.
  6. High mobility and flexibility.
  7. Time management skills.
  8. Ability to read, write, and perform basic calculations.
  9. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry trays.
  10. Work irregular hours during busy periods.
Supervision and Skills

Receives guidance from the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty. Basic sanitation, safety, and customer service skills can be taught in-house. No prior experience required.
