Job summary

Cunningham Restaurant Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to support finance operations and the restaurant business.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of GAAP and how finance supports restaurant functions, with attention to accuracy and timely reporting.

This role maintains and reconciles General Ledger accounts for assigned locations, handles AP and journal entries, and assists with monthly P&L and balance sheet analysis.

Qualifications

• Prefer accounting degree; restaurant accounting experience considered.
• Knowledge of Compeat or similar accounting system.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and good-record-keeping.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Team player with ability to collaborate across teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with management.

Responsibilities

• Balance daily Sales Report – audit and post to COMPEAT.
• Audit AP cutoff and assign account numbers in the system.
• Bi-monthly vendor statement reconciliation for AP invoices.
• Assist AP Manager with weekly check runs.
• Monthly petty cash reconciliation.
• Track rebates for food, liquor, beer, wine.
• Prepare journal entries for various activities (PR, AR, inventory, prepaids, cash).
• Assist with monthly P&L preparation.
• Balance Sheet analysis and year-end budgeting support.
• Manage accounting for owned apartments in QuickBooks.
