Job summary

The Guidance Center in Kansas is seeking a part-time Respite Care Worker to join our interdisciplinary CBS program. This role provides attendant care and respite services to youth, with evenings and weekends required.

You will supervise youth, support structured activities, encourage problem-solving, work with families, transport when needed, and ensure compliance with KDHE standards and our policies. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older and have six months experience working with youth.
• Preferred: One year of college coursework or one year experience in human services or a combination of each; experience working with youth with mental health issues.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth attending Respite services.
• Work with youth during structured activities to create a safe and productive environment.
• Encourage and support clients’ efforts to effectively problem-solve and interact successfully with others.
• Work respectfully and supportively with clients’ parents/caregivers, while observing appropriate boundaries.
• Transport clients to and from appointments and activities when necessary.
• Understand KDHE standards regarding respite care and licensing regulations.
• Abide by KDHE and TGC disciplinary policy.
• Understand direct service requirements/assignments and efficiency goals established by TGC for the position, and achieve same.
• Provide documentation (clinical notes, reports, and other professional products) which complies with TGC’s Quality Improvement standards and the requirements of all funding sources.
• Organize work to meet direct service expectations and Center requirements.

The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. We provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Respite Care Worker - PT to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position provides attendant care and/or respite care services to youth being served through the Center’s CBS program. Evenings Required (1+ days per week after 5 p); Weekends Required.

High school graduate or GED required. Must be 21 years of age or older and have six months experience working with youth. Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.

Preferred: One year of college course work or one year experience in the field of human services or a combination of each; experience working with youth with mental health issues.
