Job summary

The Guidance Center is seeking a Respite Care Worker (PT) to join our interdisciplinary team in Leavenworth, KS. The role focuses on supervising youth in respite services and delivering structured activities that promote safety and positive interaction.

Evenings and one or more weekend days are required. You will work with parents/caregivers and transport clients as needed, while following KDHE standards and TGC policies. The center offers competitive pay and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21 years or older with six months experience working with youth.

The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Respite Care Worker - PT to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position provides attendant careand/or respite careservices toyouthbeing served throughthe Center’sCBSprogram. Evenings Required (1+ days per week after 5 p); Weekends Required.

Primary Duties:

1. Supervise youth attending Respite services
2. Work with youth during structured activities to create a safe and productive environment.
3. Encourage and support clients’ efforts to effectively problem-solve and interactsuccessfullywith others
4. Work respectfully and supportively with clients’ parents/caregivers, whileobserving appropriate boundaries
5. Transport clients to and from appointments and activities when necessary.
6. Understand KDHE standardsregardingrespite care and licensing regulations
7. Abide byKDHE and TGCdisciplinary policy
8. Understand direct service requirements/assignmentsand efficiency goalsestablishedby TGC for the position, and achieve same
9. Provide documentation (clinical notes, reports, and other professional products) whichcomplieswith TGC’s Quality Improvement standards and the requirements of all funding sources.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate or GED required.Must be 21 years of age or older and have sixmonthsexperience working with youth.Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.

Preferred:Oneyear of college course work or one year experience in the field of human services or a combinationof each;experience working with youth with mental health issues.
