Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a PRN Therapy Aide at Avera McKennan Hospital to support inpatient EKGs and patient care, working within a compassionate, multidisciplinary team in Sioux Falls.

You will document, chart, schedule, enter EMR data, handle insurance forms, and assist therapy staff. Excellent customer service and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • CPI certification within 1 year.
  • Preferred 1–3 years in healthcare, nurse aide or customer service.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes documents as needed.
  • Completes daily, weekly or monthly reports and assists with audits as needed.
  • Prepares appropriate charting forms for each patient/resident.
  • Schedules appointments according to provider referrals and therapist availability.
  • Answers phone, relaying correct information.
  • Greets patients, collects patient information and enters into EMR accurately.
  • Completes insurance forms, verifies insurance coverage, and secures other information as may be needed for patient billing.
  • Makes copies and sends faxes as requested from within department or from outside sources.

A Brief Overview

Responsible to perform therapy aide functions to ensure patients are scheduled and registered accurately. Assists with activities to maintain cleanliness and order to the department. Provides excellent customer service to external and internal customers via in person, over the telephone and through electronic communications. Assists therapy staff with patient care, as needed in various departments.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification - Crisis Prevention Institute within 1 Year
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • 1-3 years General healthcare, nurse aide or customer service
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
