Job summary

Accendra Health is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to perform home visits and manage oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment across the Boston Metro area. You will educate patients, document care, and coordinate with physicians and case managers to ensure quality outcomes.

The role is on-site with travel, standard hours 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, and a 50/50 office/field schedule. A MA RT license and CPR certification are required, with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Respiratory Therapist with MA RT license and licensure in practice states.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• CPR certification and good standing in required states.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to set up oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care, and escalate concerns as needed.
• Respond to discharge requests and support patient needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and branch teams.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment (oxygen, nebulization, PAP, vents).
• Test equipment and perform clinical assessments (pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry).

This role provides flexible scheduling, strong operational support, and the opportunity to serve a diverse Boston Metro patient population. The team is highly experienced, with leadership bringing over 20 years of home‑care expertise.

Key highlights

• Work Arrangement: On‑site, 50% in the office and 50% on the road.
• Hours: Standard 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM; with flexible scheduling (4/10s).
• Travel: Boston Metro area; variable traffic; flexible start/end times and ability to leave from home.
• Salary range $45 - $55 per hour.
• Compensation offered may vary based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
• $5,000 Recruitment & Retention bonus.
• On‑Call transparency: Rotation every 3rd week with minimal call volume.

What you’ll do

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs.
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop.
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non‑invasive ventilation.
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs.
• Performs other duties as required.

What we look for

• Respiratory Therapist with an active MA RT license.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations.
• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy.
• Hold a current CPR Certification.
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice.
