Job summary

Accendra Health in the Boston metro area is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform home visits, set up oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment, and educate patients and caregivers.

You will assess patient needs, document care, respond to discharge requests, collaborate with physicians and case managers, and operate equipment, using an iPad or laptop.

Qualifications

• Active MA RT license and CPR certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive in the Boston metro area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to set up oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care, and elevate concerns as needed.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and branch teams.
• Maintain documentation using iPad or laptop.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment (oxygen, nebulization, PAP, ventilation).
• Inspect equipment for proper operation and perform clinical assessments.

Key highlights

• Work Arrangement: On-site, 50% in the office and 50% on the road.
• Hours: Standard 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; with flexible scheduling (4/10s).
• Travel: Boston Metro area; variable traffic; flexible start/end times and ability to leave from home.

Salary range

• $45 – $55 per hour. Compensation offered may vary based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
• $5,000 Recruitment & Retention bonus.

On-Call transparency

• Rotation every 3rd week with minimal call volume.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and elevate concerns appropriately
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs
• Performs other duties as required

What We Look For

• Respiratory Therapist with an active MA RT license
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations

• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy
• Hold a current CPR Certification
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice
