Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist to administer respiratory care, including oxygen delivery, medications, PFTs, ABGs, and ventilation support.

This role requires collaboration with physicians to determine treatment plans and ongoing patient progress documentation. You will document care activities, ensure quality standards compliance, and participate in department duties.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support/BLS.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Administers physician prescribed respiratory therapy, including oxygen, medications, PFTs, ABGs, and all mechanical ventilation.
• Performs evaluation procedures to determine respiratory care needs and makes recommendations based on department protocols.
• Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation, including assessment, rounds, weaning, airway care and diagnostic testing.
• Collects and analyzes sputum, blood and breath specimens to assess lung function.
• Offers diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on analysis.
• Communicates with health care team for continuity of care.
• Ensures smooth operation of the PFT and ABG lab and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
