Job summary

Ochsner Health in Lafayette, LA seeks an experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients. You will monitor and manage arterial blood gases and EKGs, and support airway management under physician orders.

Required are an active respiratory therapist license, NBRC certification, BLS, and ACLS/PALS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required in respiratory therapy.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current license as a respiratory therapist in state of practice.
• Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a certified or registered respiratory therapist.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS and PALS within 90 days of hire.
• NRP certification from AAP or AHA.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information for each patient encounter.
• Educates patients and healthcare team on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Adapts communication to patient population and ensures privacy and consent.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
