Job summary

Arbors at Streetsboro is seeking a Part-Time Respiratory Therapist (RT) to support long-term care and short-term rehab patients. The role involves providing respiratory care under management direction, delivering in-service education, and ensuring high-quality patient care at the facility.

Qualified candidates will have a CRT or RRT license from an AMA-approved program, CPR certification, and experience in respiratory therapy within a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Candidate must hold a CRT or RRT license and graduate from an AMA-approved respiratory care program.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Experience with vent care is a plus; licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory-related services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope.
• Record all relevant information in patient charts and communicate with physicians and staff.
• Assist with regulatory issues and ensure proper storage of respiratory equipment and documentation.
• Handle routine communications and workflows, including filing and faxing as needed.
• Assess patient respiratory needs, monitor oxygen saturation and ventilator patients, and perform timely ventilator checks.
• Complete TARs monthly and assess for decannulation and weaning as appropriate.
• Participate in special projects and communicate solutions to staff.

Summary

The Respiratory Therapist, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in‑services regarding patient care and other respiratory‑related issues to the facility.

Qualifications

Education

• A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA‑approved school for respiratory care.

Licenses / Certification

• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of employment.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Vent certified, preferred.

Experience

• One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in a long‑term care setting.

Job Functions

• Provides respiratory‑related services for established times or services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope. This may include testing the patient for qualifying clinical needs, gathering information, completing and/or submitting the information to the facility.
• Records all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts, including consults, recommendations, and pertinent conversations with physicians, staff, patients, patient family members, or other caregivers.
• Assists the facility in regulatory issues, ensuring that respiratory equipment and supplies are stored in appropriate areas and that appropriate signs and documentation are provided.
• Takes care of routine mail, phone calls, and pages as necessary, and completes necessary filing and faxing.
• Communicates with facility staff regarding relevant clinical and operational issues regarding the program and patient care issues.
• Assesses patient respiratory needs, monitors oxygen saturation and pulse oximetry, and works with ventilator patients.
• Completes treatment and ventilator checks in a timely fashion and notifies the supervisor of any facility concerns or needs.
• Completes TARs at the end of each month, checking for accurate information.
• Assesses for decannulation and weaning.
• May participate in a wide variety of special projects.
• Resolves routine problems and communicates solutions to appropriate personnel.
