Job summary

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate physician-prescribed respiratory treatments and ventilatory equipment.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning via multiple methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography per policy.
• Review chest X-rays and conduct pulmonary function tests.
• Assist with procedures related to respiratory care (bronchoscopy, chest tube placement).
• Provide tracheostomy care and arterial puncture support as needed.
• Record therapy data and communicate results with physicians.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and assist in equipment maintenance.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and overseeing patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. The role includes evaluating patients and recommending tailored treatment plans while explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments and equipment to patients, along with necessary discharge education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with procedures related to respiratory care (e.g., Bronchoscopy, Chest Tube placement).
• Conduct tracheostomy care and arterial punctures as required.
• Record treatment information and communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and assist in equipment maintenance.
