Origin Travel Nurses is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week contract in Panama City, FL. The position features a day shift with a 3x12 schedule and involves delivering intensive respiratory care, evaluating patients, and assisting with transport as prescribed.

Responsibilities include performing ventilation, suctioning, EKGs, pulmonary function tests, bronchoscopy assistance, and tracheostomy care while ensuring accurate documentation and patient communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers to provide medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to enhance secretion clearance.
• Execute suctioning using various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Carry out oximetry and capnography monitoring as per policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Manage tracheostomy care, including the insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
• Perform arterial puncture and assess ventilation efficiency while recording and reporting test results.
• Follow policies related to laboratory testing, including specimen handling and quality controls.
• Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately in records and patient charts.
• Communicate effectively with the attending and pulmonary physician regarding patient therapy.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging, including data entry and error correction.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed. This position involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans while explaining procedures, tests, and equipment to patients and their families.
