Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, including intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, as well as educating patients on treatment procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer medications and provide humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Perform tracheostomy care and arterial puncture as necessary.
• Record and communicate patient responses to treatments to the healthcare team during shift handoffs.
• Maintain compliance with all policies related to laboratory testing and equipment.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Ensure accurate documentation of treatments and patient response on appropriate records.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Applicants must possess a valid Respiratory Therapist license and meet any additional certification requirements as per state regulations.
