Job summary

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Current Respiratory Therapist licensure in North Carolina.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Three or more years of experience in cardiopulmonary services preferred.

Overview

Wilson Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is a 294‑bed facility serving Wilson County and surrounding communities. As a Respiratory Therapist, Registered, you will help patients recover and maintain respiratory health.

Responsibilities

• Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
• Assess patient condition and deliver appropriate treatment.
• Educate the patient and family about the illness and provide information about community support groups and resources.
• Monitor, receive, and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
• Maintain storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassemble, clean, sterilize equipment, and perform preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
