Overview
Wilson Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is a 294‑bed facility serving Wilson County and surrounding communities. As a Respiratory Therapist, Registered, you will help patients recover and maintain respiratory health.
Responsibilities
- Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
- Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
- Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
- Assess patient condition and deliver appropriate treatment.
- Educate the patient and family about the illness and provide information about community support groups and resources.
- Monitor, receive, and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
- Maintain storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
- Disassemble, clean, sterilize equipment, and perform preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Science required.
- Certifications: BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- License: Current Respiratory Therapist licensure in North Carolina; Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Experience: Three or more years of experience in cardiopulmonary services preferred.
- Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, effective communication in English (verbal and written), and ability to work in a stressful environment.
