Job summary

Ascension Via Christi St. Peter in Derby, KS is seeking a Respiratory Care professional to lead specialized care plans, tailor treatment frequency and intensity to each patient, and collaborate with the Wichita-based multidisciplinary team.

The role involves managing advanced respiratory modalities, documenting patient journeys, educating families, and serving as a critical member of the emergency resuscitation team during high-pressure code situations.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire, AHA or ARC accepted.
• Credential in Respiratory Care Practitioner or NBRC-registered therapist.

Responsibilities

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead the development of specialized respiratory care plans, utilizing your clinical expertise to tailor treatment frequency and intensity to each patient's unique diagnosis.
• Manage advanced respiratory modalities and life-sustaining equipment, maintaining a vigilant eye on patient stability to ensure the highest standards of safety and intervention.
• Advocate for patient recovery by documenting care journeys with precision and communicating real-time condition changes to the Wichita-based multidisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and Kansas families on respiratory health and local support networks, empowering them to manage their conditions with confidence after discharge.
• Respond as a critical member of the emergency resuscitation team, providing calm, expert leadership and life-saving care during high-pressure "code" situations.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following:
  • • Respiratory Care Practitioner obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Preferred Credential(s):
• • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
