Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform pulmonary function testing and spirometry, calibrate and maintain PFT equipment, and educate patients on testing procedures. You will support providers by preparing charts, reviewing test indications, and documenting findings for timely physician review.

The role requires state licensure, BLS, and experience with pulmonary function testing. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice respiratory therapy.
• Ability to operate diagnostic/patient care equipment.
• BLS within 90 days of hire.
• Experience with pulmonary function testing.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Experience with standard office equipment.
• Experience with standard Office Technology in a Windows environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates sound clinical practice in respiratory therapies including performing Pulmonary Function Tests and Spirometry.
• Calibrates and maintains PFT machine according to manufacturer specifications.
• Verbalizes understanding of record keeping procedures for respiratory therapies.
• Maintains the PFT lab schedule and confirms appointments.
• Maintains a clean and orderly PFT lab with proper disinfection protocols.
• Prepares charts, reviews indications for testing, and prior diagnostics.
• Educates patients on proper testing techniques and medication delivery.
• Obtains vital signs and documents results for physician review.
• Follows medical waste disposal policies and safety procedures.
• Communicates effectively with the care team and patients.
