Job summary

The Paramount at Somers Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist for a part-time role on weekends and evenings (about 15 hours per week). The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, be able to work with interdisciplinary teams, and support patient outcomes.

Required Education includes a high school diploma or equivalent and an accredited RT program certificate; NY RT license or RT Technician license is required.

Qualifications

• Education: HSD or equivalent; RT program certificate required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Licensure: New York State RT license (or RT Technician).
• Experience: prior respiratory therapy, critical care or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy and care plans for patients with acute or chronic conditions.
• Administer treatments: oxygen, incentive spirometry, nebulization; monitor status.
• Record vitals and track respiratory status; educate patients and families.
• Collaborate with providers to adjust care plans; participate in rounds.
• Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with infection control protocols.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate part-time (weekends and evening for approx.15 hrs/week) Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team.The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a passion for improving patient outcomes and the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

• 1. Respiratory Therapy
• Assess, plan and implement respiratory care plans for patients with acute or chronic respiratory conditions
• Administer respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry and nebulization.
• Monitor patient conditions, record vital signs, and assess respiratory status
• Educate patients and families on respiratory equipment, treatments, and disease management
• Collaborate with providers and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust care plans
• Participate in rounds, care conferences and patient discharge planning meetings
• 2. Documentation and Compliance:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards
• Ensure adherence to infection control practices and safety protocols

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.Certificate of completion from an accredited respiratory therapist program, required.
• Licensure: New York State Respiratory Therapy Technician or Respiratory Therapist License
• Experience: Previous experience in respiratory therapy, critical care, or related areas
• Skills:
• Proficiency in respiratory care techniques and nursing procedures
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in high pressure situations and maintain a calm demeanor

Compensation :$50/hour
