Job summary

Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the Respiratory Services unit at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, PA. The role supports diagnosis and treatment of respiratory conditions, including medication delivery for respiratory ailments, under supervision of the department manager.

You will perform oxygen therapy, ABG sampling, ventilator management, and patient education, with rotating 12‑hour shifts and part‑time/per diem opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current PA License in Respiratory Therapy.
• Must be registered by the NBRC.
• AHA BLS certification.
• HS graduate or AMA-approved respiratory therapy program.

Responsibilities

• Provide Oxygen Therapy competence and safety.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation.
• Recognize patient changes and escalate to nurse/physician as needed.
• Set up and maintain ventilator functions.
• Use pulse oximetry appropriately and monitor trends.
• Educate patients and families about care.

Position Purpose

Under supervision of the department manager and/upon request of the physician order sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the Diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease or illness. Also delivery of medications needed to assist in control of Respiratory ailments.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will:

• Demonstrates competence in providing Oxygen Therapy
• Demonstrates competence in Arterial Blood Gas Sampling
• Recognizes changes in patient condition and responds appropriately (notifies nurse/physician, initiates CPR)
• Sets up and maintains ventilator functions
• Demonstrates appropriate use of pulse oximetry device
• Participates in the education process of patients and families

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current PA License in Respiratory Therapy
• Must be registered by the NBRC
• AHA BLS
• HS graduate or equivalent, graduate of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program
