Spectrum Health's Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a part-time night shift. You will collaborate with a clinical team to diagnose, monitor, and treat pediatric and adult patients with respiratory needs.

The role requires an Associate’s in Respiratory Therapy, state licensure, and NBRC CRT certification, with ACLS/BLS/NRP credentials within 90 days of hire. Training and education responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred in Respiratory Therapy.
• 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehab, respiratory care, or sleep medicine.
• MI State license for Respiratory Therapist is required.
• NBRC CRT credential required at hire.
• NRP, ACLS, BLS certifications required within 90 days at hire.

Responsibilities

• Help diagnose, monitor, and treat lung and breathing conditions across ages.
• Evaluate respiratory care needs and recommend care per policy and protocol.
• Document effectiveness and progress accurately for billing and compliance.
• Provide education to patients and families on respiratory care and conditions.
• Instruct and train other staff, nursing, and students on patient needs and respiratory care services.

Scope of Work

• As a Respiratory Therapist with Corewell Health, you can help patients breathe more easily and live life more comfortably.
• You’ll collaborate with a highly skilled clinical team to help diagnose, monitor, and treat conditions that affect the lungs and breathing in people of all ages.
• Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
• Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Performs point of care testing as required.
• Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance.
• Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
• Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
• Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
• Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
• Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.

Qualifications Required

• Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy
• 2 years of relevant experience pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education
• LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan
• Upon Hire required CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care
• Upon Hire required CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association Regional Hospitals and NICU 90 Days required
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab 90 Days required
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required
• Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required

Ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist or RRTRT Students, CRTs, and/or RRTs may apply
