Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy required.

• 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education.

Responsibilities

• Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs and makes recommendations per policy.
• Assesses treatment effectiveness and documents per standards.
• Performs point of care testing as required.
• Performs advanced evaluation and therapeutic procedures for patients requiring respiratory assistance.
• Maintains competency and completes all required education.
• Ensures accurate documentation and billing.

Introduction

Corewell Health is offering up to $25,000 as a Sign-On Bonus (for external RT candidates or for internal/external RT students graduating RT Program, excluding CH West RT Apprentices). Butterworth Hospital, right in the heart of Grand Rapids, is a nationally recognized hospital for patient quality and safety and the regional leader in full-service hospitals. Since 1873, Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital (part of Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals) has been growing and building a reputation of excellence in care, diagnostics, treatment, prevention and education. It is the flagship hospital for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals, which includes Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion. Butterworth Hospital offers a wide range of advanced medical, surgical and specialty care services that allow the urban campus in downtown Grand Rapids to serve as a major tertiary and quaternary referral center for West Michigan and beyond. These services include the only Regional Burn Center and Level I Trauma Center in West Michigan. Butterworth Hospital is a clinical leader in cardiovascular, cancer, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, neurosciences, trauma and emergency care services, among many others. Corewell Health announced conceptual plans to expand the Butterworth Hospital campus with the addition of a new 621,000 square‑foot facility that would increase access to care, including the construction of a new emergency department, 180 private beds and 12 to 16 operating rooms.

Scope of Work

• Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
• Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Performs point of care testing as required.
• Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance.
• Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
• Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
• Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
• Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
• Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
