Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program as determined by CoARC.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or registry-eligible status.
• State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license within six months of employment.
• Current CPR certification (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians.
• Assess patients to determine best method of administering treatment.
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance, and quality control activities; transcribe orders as needed.
• Communicate treatment details clearly to patients and families.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy, with focus on pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Educate patients and staff on therapies as appropriate.
