Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support/BLS.
• Associate’s/2-year degree required; NBRC registration within 2 years if not NBRC-registered.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with coworkers and staff per Jefferson values.
• Administers physician-prescribed respiratory therapy including oxygen, meds, PFTs, ABGs, and ventilation.
• Performs evaluation procedures to determine respiratory care needs and recommends department-based care.
• Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation including assessment, rounds, troubleshooting, weaning, airway care, and diagnostics.
• Collects and analyzes sputum, blood and breath samples to diagnose and assess lung function.
• Provides diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on analyses.
• Communicates with care team to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
• Ensures smooth operation of the PFT and ABG lab and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
