Job Summary and Qualifications
The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with department requirements and standards of practice. As a vital part of the patient care team, the therapist performs diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures, and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
What you will do in this role:
Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
Assist with placement of artificial airways. Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
Monitor patient responses to therapy. Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in case of adverse responses.
Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and ventilation during resuscitation as needed.
Qualifications needed:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Neonate Resuscitation must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
STABLE certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
State Registered Respiratory Therapist, Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LCRT), or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP).
